The Borgata Pragmatic Play Open poker tournament is an annual poker tournament at the Borgata Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It is a young tournament, first held in 2003, the year the Borgata opened. The inaugural Borgata Poker Open tournament drew 235 players and had a prize pool of $1,175,000.
The Borgata Poker Open takes place in September and is an official stop on the Word Poker Tour. The Borgata poker room is spacious, comfortable, and one of the classiest locations on the World Poker Tour.
The Borgata Poker Open consists of eight individual no limit Texas Hold’em poker tournaments, with the final tournament being the $10,000 buy-in ($300 entry fee) World Poker Tour tournament. Buy-ins for the preceding tournaments range from $500 to $2,500 (plus entry fees of $20 to $100).
The 2005 Borgata Poker Open will begin September 11, with a $500 buy-in no limit Texas Hold’em poker tournament. The final poker tournament, the $10,000 WPT tournament, is a four day poker tournament that will take place September 19 – 22, 2005.
The Borgata will hold Super Satellites to the $10,000 WPT tournament both before and during the Borgata Poker Open tournaments. Super Satellites are one day poker tournaments typically with 13 levels, each level lasting about 40 minutes, and each Satellite will award as many seats to the $10,000 WPT tournament as possible.
